Assessment and Reporting

Assessment is an essential element to guide the development of individual students. Through effective data collection and analysis, educators continuously improve the quality of their teaching practices. Assessment gives us information about our students and provides evidence of progress and change. It provides feedback on student goals and informs our planning. Assessment is mandated for teacher accountability. Our assessment is based on the Australian Curriculum. It encompasses the subjects of English, Mathematics , Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Technologies, The Arts, Health and Physical Education (HPE) including the Child Protection Curriculum Modified SACE.

Gordon Education Centre is committed to a culture of improvement. Assessment takes many forms, including:

- Observation (including digital technologies)

- Anecdotal notes

- Checklists

- Formalised assessment (LitCon Special, ABLES)

- Parent feedback

Reporting to families:

Term 1 - One Plan with families and relevant stakeholders (Individual goals set and aligned to the Australian Curriculum)

Term 2 - Australian Curriculum Report (Semester 1) or Modified SACE Report, One Plan review

Term 3 - Portfolios, One Plan review

Term 4 - Australian Curriculum Report (Semester 2) or Modified SACE Report, One Plan review
