Context Statement

Gordon Education Centre is a complex site representing an R-12 school. GEC is the only special school in the Limestone Coast and serves a wide catchment area, with students being transported to school over quite long distances. This has school-based implications for parent and family involvement - contending with both distance and the likelihood of other siblings attending their local school. The implications for the school include meeting the emotional and social needs of the students / family, links with other agencies and provision of quality induction programs.

The enrolment trend and student context is reflecting some changes with increases in all age groups. The school operates to capacity at 75 enrolments. This has implications for the educational community at a local and systems level.
